Once Upon a Swipe…

Like many modern love stories, ours began with something simple — a swipe and a spark. Amidst the whirlwind of busy workdays and weekend adventures, we both took a small leap of faith on a dating app, expecting maybe a few laughs or a pleasant conversation. But from the very first message, something felt... different — easy, exciting, and a little bit magical.

The first date was meant to be casual — just a drink and a conversation. (Though, Scott was fashionably late thanks to a call from his Lieutenant.) Not realizing how much time had passed, he hung up the phone, quickly walked into the bar and texted Julie, “I’m here.” Her reply? “To your left.” He turned... and everything changed. The moment he laid eyes on her, Scott thought, “No way.” It was love at first sight.

They talked for hours that evening, lost in laughter and stories — from favorite travel spots to ridiculous childhood memories. As they said goodbye, they walked away with wide smiles and the unmistakable feeling that something truly special had begun.

In the months that followed, texts turned into calls, and calls into long walks (with Crook), golf dates, and spontaneous trips. We found joy not just in the big moments, but in the quiet ones — binging shows, discovering new restaurants, or simply enjoying each other’s company. Our second date was a very important one, we went to church together. Somewhere along the way, we realized that the best version of ourselves was the one we found in each other.

What started as a simple swipe became the love of a lifetime.
